More events in Plastic Free July

At the movie night we showed the reusable shopping bags that you take to the shops for fresh produce and bulk items instead of using plastic bags. We contemplated holding a sewing workshop to learn to sew these bags and make plenty for ourselves and our friends.
Our sister group Transition Town Stirling has set up this initiative which we ask you to support. It's this Saturday at the Henderson Environment Centre in North Beach. Please come along and rsvp with Meegan.
If you need a lift from Mt Hawthorn, please send us an email to and we will contact you.
We'll also bring a spare sewing machine.
Here are the details of the workshop:

DIY PRODUCE BAGS Sewing Workshop

Many of us manage to remember to take our reusable shopping bags along with us instead of using one use plastic bags..... but what about all those smaller bags that we use for fresh produce, nuts, seeds etc.

Come along and make a set of lightweight produce bags. Learn how to make your own produce bags from recycled materials, once you have mastered the skill.... help make up some more bags for our July Farmers Market stall to help spread the word on how to reduce plastic in our lives.

Let's support Plastic Free July and make even more people aware of the detrimental impact of single use plastic on our lives and the environment. The next event is a movie night this Friday in Tuart Hill, a lot closer to home. Please spread the word. Free event, RSVP is required.
