No Junk Mail Signs so popular they are collectibles

Bright green leaf - No Junk Mail - signs have been printed for Mount Hawthorn and Leederville under the Environmental Grant initiative of the City of Vincent.

With Australians consuming millions of trees worth of paper each year, a no junk mail sign was one way to reduce paper waste and save a few trees in the process.

We started small, with signs delivered to a few streets in Mount Hawthorn in early 2014.

It wasn't long before we saw many green leaves popping up on letterboxes and we knew other locals wanted to reduce their paper waste.

Almost 3000 signs have now been printed after successful grants in 2014 for Mount Hawthorn and 2015 for Leederville.

From little things big things grow, so we hope other locals are keen to keep this initiative growing into their suburb.

The Leederville signs will be dropped into letterboxes without an existing No Junk Mail sign, starting in mid October.

Residents not only need to be on the lookout for new signs but also a collector!

Several signs across 8 streets in Mount Hawthorn were kept as souvenirs after a fan of our signs took one sunny September day to undo the work of dedicated volunteers. Unfortunately this fan has not been identified.

If you see someone collecting these signs off letterboxes, please provide details to the Police on 131 444 and let us know at or post us a line at TTMH PO Box 517, Mount Hawthorn 6915.

Volunteers are also replacing missing signs, please contact TTMH if your sign has gone missing.
