Save money, get fit and still get to work on time.
With assistance from the City of Vincent, Transition Town Mount Hawthorn (TTMH) are hosting a free Cycle Commuting 101 Workshop on Sunday 9th October 2016, to help residents prepare for the City of Vincent’s annual Ride to Work Breakfast on Thursday 13th October 2016, to coincide with National Ride2Work Day.
The workshop will be held between 10am and 12 noon, at Axford Park in Mount Hawthorn. Professional bike instructors from People on Bicycles will be on hand to introduce budding cycle commuters to the world of two-wheel traveling, including how best to setup their bike, personal safety and basic bicycle maintenance (such as changing a punctured bike tube). Transition Town Mount Hawthorn volunteers will be on hand to help workshop participants map out their riding routes, and to plan their ride to work.
Participants just need to bring a working bike, water bottle and a portable chair to the workshop. There is no charge for this event and a complimentary morning tea will be provided. Places are limited, and bookings must be made through Eventbrite (https://commute101.eventbrite.com).
And if you like the bike commuting experience, you can join the weekly “Ride to Work Mornings” that will follow the workshop, leading cyclists into the Perth CBD, following the safest and most efficient cycle-routes. More information on this will be given at the workshop.
